Journey to the East

Journey to the East is a collaboration between musicians and singers from Iran, India, Pakistan,
Syria and Saudi Arabia in order to revive the amazing musical heritage of the East.

About Massyr Ensemble
Massyr "مَسير " Ensemble aims to present the beautiful cultures, heritage, and harmony of Eastern fusion music, through a musical journey that will carry the listener from south Asian (India, Pakistan), to the richness of east Asian music (Iran), to the beauty of Arabic music starting from Saudi Arabia and ending in Morocco, all nourished, hosted and present in the multi-cultural artistic scene of Canada.
Massyr is a common word between Arabic, Persian and Urdu, which means the journey, the travel or the way. Our individual journeys have brought us together to bring this music to life. Our ancestors used to travel across the eastern continent, carrying with them peace, love, music, culture, and history, leaving behind differences and hardships. They travelled freely, without any borders or difficulties.
"We aim to showcase the power of music, and its ability to bring 3 different rich cultures together, allowing them to interact and share an intense moment of musical unity. We want to show the audience that we’re able to meet, bond, collaborate, find support in each other, in music, and in our communities to create such a masterpiece."
