Circle Band

Circle band is thrilled to be a part of the Tirgan festival 2019 and will perform a variety of its most popular songs as well a few new and unreleased songs.

Circle band is a Toronto-based, Persian music band founded in 2011, offering a unique style of music as a fusion of jazz and psychedelic rock with elements of traditional Eastern instruments. Circle Band focuses on classical and contemporary Persian poetry, The Circle band is lead by songwriter, guitarist, and vocalist Shahab Baradaran, accompanied by Saman Shahi on the Piano, synthesizer and tar and Reza Moghaddas on bass. Circle band released its first album, Beyond the Seas, based on Sohrab Sepehri’s poetry in 2012. Their second album "My Enigma" (اسرار من), was a three-year project, released in 2015.  Band members participating in this album were Shahab Baradaran (songwriter, vocalist, guitars), Saman Shahi(piano, keyboard), Reza Moghaddas(bass), Peter Lutek ( saxophone, soprano sax, Turkish clarinet), Steve Farrugia (drums), Maryam Nosrati (vocals). "My Enigma"  was different from the previous album in terms of arrangement and had more of a jazz, blues and classical feel. The entire album was performed at Small World Music Centre in Toronto in 2015.  The band toured across Canada and performed in Waterloo, Kitchener and Ottawa Ottawa and Montreal. They also performed at "Lunchtime Live!", presented by Massey Hall and Roy Thomson Hall in June 2016. Their most recent album "Passage"  was released in 2018 and toured across Canada, in Toronto, Kitchener, Waterloo, Ottawa and  Montreal while work on music videos for the album is in progress. All the songs for  "Passage" are written by Shahab Baradaran and some were arranged in collaboration with Saman Shahi. Other collaborating members are Peter Lutek and  Maryam Nosrati along with guest Artists: Richard Uglow (synths, keys, bass, percussions), Pedram Khavarzamini (tombak), Bejan Sepanji( violin) & Darya Zonoozi ( cello). “ Passage”  is fusion jazz / Indie rock and based on Sohrab Sepehri, Rumi, Baba Taher & Ferydoon Moshiri poetry.
