Amir Hosein Pourjavady

Amir Hosein Pourjavady earned his BA in music from the University of Tehran, his MPhil in Ethnomusicology from CUNY Graduate Center, and his PhD from UCLA. He served as Assistant Professor of music at the University of Tehran for eight years and has written extensively on the history, theory and performance practice of Persian music. Currently, he is the director of the Iranian Music Program at UCLA, Herb Alpert School of Music, where he also runs the Persian Music Ensemble.
