Tirgan World Tour
A global platform for Iranian culture,
reimagined for the world stage
For over two decades, Tirgan has brought together hundreds of thousands through the power of art, culture, and shared identity, becoming the largest celebration of Iranian heritage outside of Iran. Now, Tirgan is going around the world. Designed to travel across major cultural hubs, it carries with it a singular mission, to connect, represent, and elevate the voice of Iranian art and culture on a global stage. In a time marked by fragmentation and misrepresentation, Tirgan stands as a unifying force. Through music, dance, film, theatre, visual arts, history, literature, and dialogue, it creates a space where culture is not only preserved—but actively lived, shared, and redefined. More than a festival. Tirgan World Tour is a platform, a collective expression of Iranian culture now, and what it shall continue to become.

A big thank you to all the organizers and sponsors who made this wonderful event possible and thanks to everyone here today for coming out to enjoy the world's largest celebration of Iranian arts and culture. Tirgan is the place to hear great Iranian music, eat delicious food, and discover many artists and performers. This year's program also includes the first ever Iranian Canadian women's leadership conference. We need more women leaders all around the world in every sector. I'm glad this conference supports women's leadership across borders.

The best thing I saw and truly enjoyed at Tirgan was that, for the first time, Iranians living outside the country were able to organize and carry out something structured and cohesive in a major city. Considering the realities of life abroad—since I myself have been an immigrant for many years—I understand what the gaps and needs are. And these kinds of cultural initiatives are essential for any immigrant community.

Tirgan is leading by example and they give us the opportunity to showcase our beautiful culture and the Iranian Heritage to not just the people in Toronto Ontario and Canada, but quiet frankly with the size of Tirgan all of the world
Kathleen Wynne
Former Premier of Ontario
I’m delighted to greet everyone attending the renowned Tirgan Festival. Ontario’s wide range of traditions and cultures are a big part of what makes this such a wonderful place to live. I thank the organizers for helping people in Ontario celebrate the vibrant artistry of one of the oldest civilizations in the world, and I commend them for promoting a fairer future for people in the province. According to Persian tradition, Arash the Archer let his arrow fly, and his actions settled a land dispute between two nations and ended a long drought, establishing an important precedent for cooperation and respect among different peoples. The values of understanding and diversity have become hallmarks of Persian culture, and these ideals are shared by people of all backgrounds who live in Ontario. As we recognize Ontario’s 150th anniversary this year, we celebrate the communities and cultures who contribute so much to our multicultural success story. My best wishes for a great festival.

I was very impressed by the level of organization and professionalism. From the very moment I arrived in Toronto, this organization caught my attention. I can say with confidence that in all my more than thirty years living in the United States and outside of Iran, I have never seen such order and structure. An organization that, with the presence of so many volunteers who work professionally and with open, friendly attitudes, can function at this level. Anyone who steps into Tirgan is welcomed in such a way that they feel they have entered their own home.

This event is truly inspiring. I attended six years ago as well, and I can see that compared to then, the event has grown tremendously in both scale and diversity of programming, as well as in the number of participants. What is remarkable is that all of these activities are carried out by volunteers—around 400 people. Another interesting point is that from one Tirgan to the next, a new group of volunteers joins, and yet all of them are just as capable. This is a sign of the program’s success and growth. I live in Los Angeles, where the Iranian population is at least twice that of Toronto, yet we are not able to organize an event of this quality. This is only possible through reliance on volunteer efforts.

One of my best memories of Tirgan is sitting under a tree with Firouz Naderi and feeling a deep sense of connection—like we were back in Iran together. This memory doesn’t just remind me of Firouz, but of Tirgan as well, and it always brings back those special moments.

Member of the House of Commons of Canada
Tirgan is a great example of people coming together. It’s amazing to see how many volunteers have been working for so many years to bring people closer and create a sense of cooperation in Tirgan. Their dedication and hard work are truly inspiring and show the power of teamwork and kindness.

Before attending Tirgan, I had a different perception of it. But once I came, I realized that reality was very different from what I had imagined. The only thing I can say is that I truly enjoyed being part of the festival. I regret not having attended previous years. I hope I will have the opportunity to be present again in future Tirgan festivals—even as a spectator.

Tirgan is very well-organized, and the management has been handled excellently by Mr. Mehrdad. It’s not an easy task. Hundreds of thousands of people attend and move through the festival, and the volunteers guide and support everyone. The organization is extremely well executed—I had a very positive and pleasant experience

In my view, Tirgan provides an opportunity during these two or three days of the festival to showcase the diverse achievements of Iranian artists, cultural figures, and distinguished personalities. What is especially interesting is that many Iranians, for various reasons, have spent years living outside the country and have had limited opportunities to gather and participate in such programs. But Tirgan, centered around what I would call ‘culture,’ has managed to bring Iranians together. I am very pleased that this festival continues to grow successfully each year and becomes stronger than before.

I come from a generation that has witnessed the Shiraz Arts Festival, and I have always held great respect for it. I learned many things from that event in the realm of culture and art. Although Tirgan is a cultural and artistic festival, what stood out most to me was how beautifully it brings Iranian people together. Even when I saw long lines—perhaps even a kilometre long—at first I found it difficult, but then I realized that this line itself was a sign of respect and beauty. Ultimately, artists do not offer anything beyond what the people give meaning to. Without people, there would be no theatre, no acting, and no filmmaking. Therefore, I can say that Tirgan is one of the most important gatherings I have seen in the Iranian community—especially outside of Iran.

What is the importance of an organization like Tirgan for the Iranian community?

Tirgan offers more than cultural programming; it creates a shared space for voice, belonging, and healing. By celebrating Iranian art and culture, fostering dialogue, reconnecting younger generations with their roots, and bridging divides across age and background, Tirgan strengthens the social and cultural fabric of the Iranian diaspora.
In times of hardship and fragmentation, it provides a space for collective healing, where shared heritage reminds the community not only of where it comes from,
but also of what continues to unite it.

Tirgan also fosters cross-cultural dialogue and supports the integration of the community into the broader fabric of its host societies.

By organizing diverse cultural and artistic programs, Tirgan helps second- and third-generation immigrants reconnect with their heritage. Through educational workshops, artistic programs, and cultural festivals, younger generations become more familiar with Iranian culture, art, and history.

Given The Current Circumstances, is Holding Tirgan Necessary?

Now more than ever, preserving and gathering around our culture is not simply a celebration, it is an act of unity, continuity, and collective strength. Culture allows a community not only to celebrate its heritage, but to process pain, honor its resilience, and reaffirm its identity. In moments when many feel fragmented, displaced, or unheard, Tirgan becomes a platform for connection, healing, and cultural resilience.
