Mina Deris


Mina Deris, a multilingual vocalist, born in Abadan in Khuzestan Province. As a child, she showed her talent in singing at the age of 15, she became fascinated by the charm of Arab music and its colourful rhythms, mostly inspired by the great Egyptian singer Umm Kulthum. Since her hometown is Abadan, located in the south of Iran, and Arabic is her mother tongue, she was passionate about classic Arabic music (Maqam). After university, she started to pursue her enthusiasm for music by learning Iranian classical music with Maestros Hengameh Akhavan and Farhang Sharif.
