Maryam is a passionate community leader with a special focus on improving the community through personal development of individuals.
“I basically help people, young or old, unlock their potentials by listening to their stories, guiding them through their choices, and keeping their feet grounded until they are motivated enough to start working on themselves and become self-reliant. This process is built on my firm belief that persons make the community, and building humans help build a better world.
I am fully committed to promoting positive changes in individuals and communities through advocacy empowered by compassion. Thus, I have dedicated several years of my life to assisting people become more involved and accepted in their community by using the very effective tools of arts and culture which reflect inclusion and diversity.
My core values include diversity and inclusion which are aimed at building a stronger community by creating and maintaining a welcoming, barrier-free culture for everyone. I have the passion to amplify all voices in arts and culture by supporting initiatives that reflect diverse voices and professional development opportunities for emerging artists and professionals who are facing barriers in the sector.
I believe the community provides an ample opportunity to inspire and sustain positive change in the society. This is why I have spent much of the past seven years for charity and volunteer work. I presently volunteer for Tirgan, a nonprofit Canadian registered charitable organization committed to promoting cross-cultural dialogue between Iranian-Canadians and the global community at large. I have also previously offered volunteering services to the Canada Basketball Academy and the Habitat for Humanity International, contributing my time and effort toward youth development and environment sustainability respectively.”
