Kaveh Bakhtiari

Kaveh Bakhtiari was born in Tehran, and grew up in Switzerland, where he moved to at the age of 9.

After his film studies at ECAL in Lausanne (1999-2003), Bakhtiari first drew attention with his first short film, “the suitcase” (2007), which was selected for and has won awards in many festivals around the world: Geneva (award for the best Swiss short film), Regensburg (audience award), Trieste, Tampere, Edinburg, Sydney, Festroia, CineJove Valence, Ficfa Moncton, Badalona… in 2009, he was nominated for the Sundance Institute-NHK International Filmmaker’s Award.

« Stopover », selected for presentation as part of the directors’ fortnight (Quinzaine des réalisateurs) at the Cannes festival 2013, is his first feature- length documentary.
