Araz Dance and Music Group (Araz) was established by Samad Pourmusavi in Toronto (2006). The group performs traditional Azarbaijani and Caucasian ancient dance and music from the mountains and the rivers in the Caucasus regions based on the Book of Dede Korkut – the most famous epic stories of the Oghuz Turks. They also have weekly Azarbaijani dance class and monthly community workshop for the public. Details are available at fb.com/AzeriDanceToronto.
You will also find Araz in ongoing multicultural events (e.g. Shaw Festival, Turkish Festival, Iranian Nowruz Festival, the Carassauga Festival and more) throughout the City of Toronto and the surrounding regions. Their goal is to bring this joyful and lively dance/music forth for the better enjoyment of the community.
