He was one of the funders and twice board member of the Association of the Iranian Writers in Canada (1996-99) and alternative board member of the Association of the Iranian Writers in Exile (1999-2001). He is the founder of Afra Publishing, the first Iranian publishing house in Canada (since 1995) and Cafe Renaissance Academy for Alternative Art and Literature in which he has been coaching Creative Writing workshops since 2011.
