Hon. Kian has served as Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer of GreenZone Systems, Inc. since September 2012. His firm is the provider of the world’s smallest, most powerful, least energy consuming, programmable Linux based computer on a MicroSD form factor. Prior to his current position, he served as Chairman of The Board of Directors of iCelero, a Silicon Valley technology firm. He has also served as a Senior Advisor to Gallup since 2011. Hon. Kian is the highest ranking Iranian American who has served two presidents of the United States directly from September 2006 to June 2011 where he focused on supporting U.S exports to the Middle East and North Africa, Central Asia, the Caucasus and Russia. Immediately after completing two senate confirmed tours of service to 43rd and 44th U.S. presidents as a member of the board of directors and Chairman of The Audit Committee of the Export Import Bank of The United States and a member of the White House Business Council, he was appointed as a Senior Fellow for Global Public Policy at the United States Naval Postgraduate School. He served in that position from June 2011 to July 2013 where he focused on broad based interdisciplinary research informed education programs investigating the interaction of globalization and the United States national security, in support of the United States National Security Strategy, the National Defense Strategy, the National Strategy for Homeland Defense, and the Navy’s Maritime Strategy. Hon. Kian is a former director of foreign investment for the State of California where he led the attraction, retention and expansion of California’s $92 billion in foreign investment from 1995 to 1997. He also served twice as Commissioner of Economic Development for the State of California from 1993 to 1995 and a member of the Board of Directors of California’s Housing Finance Agency in 1999. With over four decades of service in public and private sectors as well as academia, Hon. Kian is a 2009 recipient of Ellis Island Medal of Honor. He was admitted as a Fellow at Royal Society of Arts in the United Kingdom in 2011. Hon. Kian is a 1979 graduate of the University of Brighton in Sussex Englandand has continued his education in epistemology and philosophy at Oxford as well as National and International Security at Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. He is the author of numerous publications and a regular commentator on world affairs and international security topics on United States Public Broadcasting Voice of America. He has lectured at the University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University in Canada as well as George Washington University, Georgetown University and Hiram College in Washington DC and Ohio.
