Different Programs and activities for kids

South Orchard Tent / Saturday July 20,2013

1pm-2pm | Sing a Song: A performance by children accompanied by the piano and percussion instruments.

2pm-3pm | Sarv Music Academy Children's Music Workshop : Presented by Sarv Music Academy, children's music specialist Mona Manoochehri, and traditional Iranian voice specialist Mahin Mohajer, this workshop is for children ages 5 to 10, based on Orff pedagogy, and traditional Iranian radif and tasnif. This workshop is an interactive, engaging educational series of games, songs and musical activities woven into a journey told through music. Kids will not only have a great time, they will also learn and experience musical concepts, learn about instruments, and more.

3pm-4pm | Drum/ Percussion Circle : Kids will learn how to hit a percussion instrument and play a rhythm which will turn in to a synchronized drum/ percussion circle.

4pm-5pm | Dance Workshop : Ladan Lotfi, with the help of three other dancers will teach some basic dance moves and steps to the participants. The movements are a combination of ballet and Persian dance. Children will practice simple routines choreographed to a high energy music, bit by bit, and then perform the dance all together.

5pm-6pm | Sing a Song (Poem Recital): A performance by children choir accompanied by the piano and percussion instruments.

Story Telling (English and Persian): Old Persian stories, combined with music and rhythm performed by kids.

6pm-7pm | Dance Workshop : Ladan Lotfi, with the help of three other dancers will teach some basic dance moves and steps to the participants. 1pm-1:30pm | Story Time With Ariel Balevi: Ariel will tell two stories. One is a story from Shahnameh about Fereydoon and his three sons and the second one is a folk tale about Shah Abbas.

2pm-3pm | Food Bingo: Clues will be read off a clue sheet for a particular food without revealing the name of the food. Kids who have the food which matches the clues will mark it off on their sheets. The first kid who completes her/his sheet and gets a BINGO will win a prize from Rainbow Caterpillar Bookshop*.

3:30pm-4pm | MapContest : Iran map will be divided to pieces and then fit back together with the help of the kids and musical rhythm.

1pm-8pm | Face Painting / Painting / Crazy Hairdo: Face painting activity for children and youth of all ages. Face painting is applying a design to the face using brushes and paints suitable for use on the skin. The designs may be very simple such as butterfly shape on the cheek or complex such as a full batman mask.

Crazy hair do is for children and youth of all ages. Simple crazy designs are applied to hair using hair spray and hair wax.

Watch Big Bad Boo's latest TV series "1001 Nights". Created and produced by Aly Jetha & Shabnam Rezaei, it was nominated for 13 LEO Awards and won 4. This award-winning animated series is currently broadcasting in 80 countries in more than 15 languages on stations such as Teletoon, CBC, Disney, Discovery Kids, Al Jazeera Children's and ORF.
With 10 comic books and 52 episodes produced, creators Shabnam Rezaei and Aly Jetha discuss the making of this show and the challenges they have faced in building a global brand with classic characters like Shahrzad.
