The Circle

The Circle is a Toronto-based, Persian music band founded in 2011, offering a unique style of music as a fusion of jazz and pop with elements of traditional Eastern instruments. The Circle’s music is based on classical and contemporary Persian poetry, such as those of Rumi, Araghi, Ahmad Shamlou, and Sohrab Sepehri. The Circle is lead by the songwriter, guitarist, and vocalist Shahab Baradaran. The female vocals of the band are presented by Sara Nejad and Mona Ketabian. Reza Moghaddas plays the Bass and Saman Shahi accompanies the group on the Piano.
The Circle is an independent band, in which all composition, recording, production, set design, and graphic design is performed by the members of the band. The Circle released its first album, Beyond the Seas, based on Sohrab Sepehri’s poetry in 2012, and is currently working on production of their second album.
