Cooking Demonstration
In this cooking demonstration, you will have a chance to learn from Najmieh Batmanglij, the guru of Persian cooking. According to Bonni Benwick of the Washington Post, "Chefs across the country are at the forefront of Najmieh’s fan base. They know what’s good, and they are inspired by the ingredients and techniques she brings to the table." Najmieh will demonstrate some classic, seasonal Persian dishes, namely
- Yogurt, Cucumber and Rose Petal Dip (Mast-o khiar)
- Eggplant Khoresh (Khoresh-e bademjan)
- Saffron-Flavored Steamed Rice with Golden Crust (Chelow)
- Cheese, Walnut, and Herb Dip (Doymaj)
*Mrs Batmanglij will be answering questions after the demonstrations and signing her award-winning cookbook, Food of Life: Ancient Persian and Modern Iranian Cooking and Ceremonies, which will be available for sale at the festival and at the event.
