"I came to realize the importance of my roots, my heritage, my being Iranian after I left Iran. It happened over the course of my six-year collaboration with Ariane Mnouchkine, who reminded us that every single one of us, coming from all over the world, had something to contribute to the magical world of theater.”
An official member of the “Comédie Fançaise" (The House of Molière), Moshkin Ghalam graduated from the University of Paris with a degree in History of Art and Theatre. He joined Theatre du Soleil in 1991 where he played lead roles in Arianne Mnoushkine’s productions of “Tartuffe," "La ville parjure" and "Les Atrides". He continued working with great directors such as Phillippe adrien (A Streetcar Named Desire), Christophe Rauck (Twelfth Night), and Antoine Campo (La Diva D’Auschwitz) and directed plays by Mirzadeh Ishqi and Iraj Mirza.
In 1997, Shahrokh established the Nakissa Dance Company and created works such as “A Persian Night's Dream,“The Seven Pavilion of Love” (Haft Peykar), “Omar Khayam,” and “Les Danses Mythologiques”. In Tirgan 2011, Shahrokh will direct and act in a musical comedy, “Zohreh & Manoochehr” by Iraj Mirza (in Persian). The cast includes two legendary figures of Iranian Theater, Sadreddin Zahed, and Hamid Reza Javdan.

With exhibitions spanning across the globe from Brazil to Japan, Europe, and the United States, Nasser Ovissi has firmly established himself as a brilliant and versatile international artist whose passionate work presents a unique blend of European, Persian, and contemporary art. A painter, sculptor, engraver, designer, and goldsmith, he has published over seventeen books in Italian, Japanese, French, Spanish, Persian, and English. He has also received numerous international awards and prizes. Nasser Ovissi is featured in E. Benezit's "Dictionaire des Peintures, Sculpteurs, Dessinatrurs et Graveurs" Vol. 9, Librurie Grand, Paris. His work is part of major museum collections such as the National Gallery of Athens, the New York University Art Museum, the Fine Art Museum of North Carolina, the Contemporary Art Museum of Madrid, and the National Museum of Oriental Art in Rome and is included in over 300 private collections worldwide.

Artist Bios:

A visionary with laudable determination and perseverance, Nima Kiann founded “Les Ballets Persans” in 2002 as the reincarnation of the former Iranian National Ballet. The company’s thematic repertoire ranges from classical ballets such as Scheherazade and Seven Beauties to neoclassical works like Babek and contemporary productions such as Femme inspired equally by Iranian literary and spiritual masterpieces and current social issues. Having acquired a multi-disciplinary training in painting, calligraphy and graphics, Kiann received his dance education at the Gothenburg Ballet Academy in Sweden and Centre de Danse International de Rosella Hightower in Cannes, France.
In 2007, he founded European Dance Project to explore ties between artistic creativity and such dramatic social phenomena as peace, dislocation, and longing through annual productions of dance performances by young ballet graduates from across the world. The project offers the select group of dancers a unique opportunity to enhance their skills and knowledge of Ballet.
As a dance scholar, Kiann has published many articles on various aspects of Iranian dance and has been a frequent guest speaker on the subject at conferences and cultural gatherings.
