New Grant from Canadian Heritage
On June 19th, "Tirgan Festival" was approved to receive $15,000 from
Canadian Heritage and $3,600 from Ontario Tourism. With these two
successful applications, Tirgan's Grant Journey completes with $66,100
in total covering more than 10% of festival's estimated budget.

The Premier's Awards for Excellence"Iranian-Canadian Centre for Art and Culture (ICCAC)" was invited by
the Honourable M. Aileen Carroll Minister of Culture to attend the
Ontario Premier's Awards for Excellence in the Arts on Monday, June
23, at The Carlu, in Toronto.
The Premier's Awards for Excellence in the Arts recognize outstanding
achievement and contribution to arts and culture in Ontario by
individuals and organizations.
“Tirgan Festival” Organizers and Artists were interviewed by BBC Persian Radio on Thursday April 18, 08. The interview was broadcasted live to millions all around the globe.

With two successful grants from OTF and OAC, “Tirgan Festival” has almost met its grant
target of $40,000. The Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF), one of the few funders of capital improvements for Ontario’s not-for-profit sector, has granted Iranian-Canadian Centre for Art and Culture (ICCAC) $29,500 over nine months for staff resources and volunteer expenses to produce “Tirgan Festival”. Ontario Arts Council has also approved and $8,000 grant to ICCAC toward production of “Tirgan Festival”.
Once Upon A Time organizers had a meeting with the Ontario Student Alliance, composed of Iranian students from University of Toronto, Ryerson University, York University, McMaster University, and University of Waterloo. The Alliance agreed to be Yeki Bood Yeki Nabood festival affiliates and help the marketing committee in festival outreach campaign with an emphasis on Iranian-Canadian students who study in the aforementioned universities. The Alliance, with a student membership of over 8000, also agreed to pursue their members to support the festival with volunteer activities before and during the event. Other areas of their support include providing the festival with a link on their websites to promote “Once Upon A Time” website and to help in launching a special campaign through facebook and similar networking websites to attract those segments of Iranian population who are more active in internet.
